This beautiful Triquetra symbol has been hand burnt onto the surface of a small sliver of wood found whilst out walking along Otter valley. The wood has been sanded so the surface is smooth to wear and a Mother of Pearl crystal has been added for extra energy. The piece has then been lightly waxed with our own natural beeswax, olive oil and lavender hand-blended wax and given a little polish. It is strung onto an adjustable cord, so it can be put over your head and adjusted to you desired length.
The Triquetra also called the Trinity Knot, is an ancient symbol sacred to many cultures. For some it is symbolic of the threefold nature of the Goddess as mother, maiden and crone, it is also representative of the forces of nature (earth, fire and water) and the three interlocking circles are symbolic of female fertility.
According to the Celts, the most important things in the world came in threes; three domains (earth, sea and sky), three elements, three stages of life etc. It is also possible that the Triquetra signified the lunar and solar phases. During excavations of various archaeological sites from the Celtic era, a number of Trinity knot symbols have been found alongside solar and lunar symbols.
The endless intertwining curves can also be representative of eternal love, it can be given as a gift in order to convey a wish of longevity as it represents an uninterrupted life cycle and it is sometimes called the Irish Love knot.
Very light and easy to wear. This piece is handmade and as with the nature of wood, no two designs will ever be exactly the same, so it is truly original. Approx 50mm / 2" diameter. Supplied in an organza drawstring bag.
