This lovely altar amulet is made from Devon Yew wood from a fallen tree in a friends garden. It is extremely tactile and features a hand burnt Moon Gazing Hare and Lunar Cycle design. Yew wood symbolises regeneration, rebirth, protection, communication with the other world and was traditionally used for dowsing

Yew being a sacred Celtic tree we have also burnt the Ogham symbol for Yew (ioho) on the bottom for added strength and protection.

The hare symbolises connection to the goddess and earth energy as the hare has a very special place in the goddesses heart.

There is a story that the goddess held a party for all the animals and each one tried their best to find the most extravagant and expensive gift to give her. The poor hare didn't have anything, all he had in the world was a single egg, so he decided that he would have to take this. Every animal gathered at the party and took it in turns to present their gift to the goddess, all manner of wonderful and lavish items and she gracefully thanked them all. Lastly it was the hares turn, he felt very nervous and shyly walked up the goddess and presented her with his egg. The other creatures felt very sorry for him but the goddess was overjoyed and picked the hare up in her arms and declared him was the most beautiful and blessed creature of them all. You see he had given everything he had in the world without question and that showed his true love for the goddess.

This would make a wonderful addition to your altar, meditation space or a gift. The piece has then been lightly waxed with our own natural beeswax, olive oil and lavender hand-blended wax and given a little polish. Approx size  17.5cm /6.5".
