Unique set of 13 English Blackthorn Wood Witches Runes handmade with love and intention. We are blessed to be guardians of a woodland in Devon and the Blackthorn wood used to make these runes was gifted from a fallen tree. They are cut from one single piece so have a wonderful connection to each other and their energy is very pure and strong!

Blackthorn is a very potent magical tree, sacred to the Celts and the Druids, it is the guardian of the dark half of the year from Samhain to Beltane (Hawthorn takes over as the guardian of the light half of the year) and it is the Crone aspect of the Triple Goddess. Blackthorn is known as ‘the increaser and keeper of dark secrets’. Blackthorn wands were was often used for ‘binding and blasting’ and can also be used for spells of protection.

Blackthorn is often depicted in fairy tales as a tree of ill omen, it is the thick, impenetrable thorn bramble that hides the magic castle from intruders and princes alike! In order to prove worthy, the prince must cut through this thorn forest to rescue the princess.

Where Blackthorn grows near its sister plant, Hawthorn, the site is especially magical, we are blessed to have a grove of both trees growing together.

Witches Runes are symbols that have been adapted from ancient symbols and carry their own energy and meanings. Depending upon your question and what you feel when choosing a rune, you can decipher your own personal guidance from each and its association within a layout or cast. We will supply a guideline description of each and then you can feel your way into working with them.

As they are all cut from a single gifted branch they do vary a little in size where the branch would have thickened and narrowed but the approx size is size 25/30mm. They are lightly waxed with our own beeswax, oilve oil and essential oil polish and they come in a handmade recycled fabric pouch.

All our handcrafted items are created with love, positive intentions and just a little magick )0(
