These lovely pieces are made from a section of found wood which we happened upon whilst out walking along the Otter Valley in Devon. It's a nice small and tactile slice of wood with its natural edge and a little bark left on, featuring a wonderful Triquetra symbol burnt into it. This would make a wonderful addition to your altar, meditation space or a gift. It has been lightly waxed with natural beeswax polish. Approx size 9-10cm / 4".

The Triquetra also called the Trinity Knot, is an ancient symbol sacred to many cultures. For some it is symbolic of the threefold nature of the Goddess as mother, maiden and crone, it is also representative of the forces of nature (earth, fire and water) and the three interlocking circles are symbolic of female fertility.

According to the Celts, the most important things in the world came in threes; three domains (earth, sea and sky), three elements, three stages of life etc. It is also possible that the Triquetra signified the lunar and solar phases. During excavations of various archaeological sites from the Celtic era, a number of Trinity knot symbols have been found alongside solar and lunar symbols.

The endless intertwining curves can also be representative of eternal love, it can be given as a gift in order to convey a wish of longevity as it represents an uninterrupted life cycle and it is sometimes called the Irish Love knot.
