Unique set of 24 English Hazel Wood Runes handmade with love and intention featuring the Eldar Futhark alphabet. We are blessed to live in rural Gloucestershire and the wood used to make these runes was gifted from a fallen tree in the forest near our home. They are cut from one single branch so have a wonderful connection to each other and their energy is very pure and strong! 
Hazel wood carries the energies of artistic ability, magical knowledge and optimism. Hazel brings love and creativity allowing a person to move beyond self-serving modes of existence. Hazel is the bringer of change. Hazel also promotes creative expression, eloquence, and art of all types. This was the most common wood used to create wands in the ancient Celtic traditions. Also used in magic spells for wisdom, creativity and intelligence. 
Runes are symbols that were used by the ancients for magic and later for writing. Their origin is shrouded in mystery, but they seem to have come from Etruria, a kingdom in the land we now call Italy, and worked their way up through Germany to Scandinavia, where they were at their height of popularity during the first millennium (0-1000AD).
At first the runes were just used for divining and magic, but the people of Northern Europe started to use them for writing messages as well. Each rune represents something in its magical sense, and also represents a sound in its writing sense and the sounds usually match up with the magical meaning.
As they are all cut from a single gifted branch they do vary a little in size where the branch would have thickened and narrowed but the approx size is size 24mm.  They are lightly waxed with our own beeswax, oilve oil and essential oil polish and they come in a handmade recycled fabric pouch with a simple guide of their meanings and suggested use.
